What I burn for

I love to spend as much time with my family as possible and I really like what I do at my job. But there is more in my life than that. Like a child, I am steadily curious and want to learn new things, make amazing experiences and meet fascinating people. Hopefully, that will never end for this life is not long enough anyway.

Travelling

What a wonderful world we are living in. As long as I can, I will be curious to see as many places as possible. To experience different people, cultures and life-styles as well as the beauty of nature excites me so much. A passion I deeply share with my wife. Wherever we get, we love to soak up the atmosphere, to listen to the local sounds, taste the food and walk around all day. Being far from home inevitably changes a lot of perspectives and makes you reconsider yourselves. Travelling around helped me to fully grasp the importance and worth of true openness and tolerance.

Photography

Photography is great a passion to me. It has been fascinating me ever since the first time I grabbed a camera and took some shots on whatever came across. Now, allure has turned into endeavor. If you are interested in my work, I'd love to have you throw a glance at it. You can do so at my photography blog FoggySun where I publish my most favorite pictures. Or follow me on Instagram to see the rather spontaneous pics that I have shot on the run.

Music

It's only Rock'n'Roll but I like it. Well, that would not be enough to describe the importance of music in my life. I never leave home without any kind of portable music with me and love to discover new beats. It's just an elementary part of my being. Music is able to affect my heart and soul in every way. No matter what mood I am in, there is some tune that fits to push my emotions. Don't ask me for favorite artists or genres as there are so many. Basically Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Indie, World and Soul. There's nothing I would exclude by default. Anyway, the best way to enjoy any music is live. Feeling the vibrations, having it pure and sharing the experience with others is just great.

Cooking

Since I was a little boy, I have loved to cook and taste new things. I hardly stick to any recipes - they are just inspirations to me. The rest comes from the guts. Taking time for cooking and enjoying delicious food is something that brings quality and happiness to my life. It perfectly helps me to get down after a long day. Especially in good company, with a glas of great wine and easy listening music around.

History & Politics

The past fascinated me ever since. First due to my family history that was lastingly affected by the Second World War. I tried to get answers to so many questions on my mind. Why did all this happen? What should we learn about it? I developed a tight rejection of prejudices when I discovered, how they make us see the world. All this was reinforced by 9/11 and its aftermath. I decided to study modern history and american studies to better understand what was going on in this world. It was especially the constructivst school of thought, which shaped my thinking beyond the sphere of academics. It has become a crucial element of my liberal worldview.

Nature

Move your body and still your mind. The best way for me to do this is to step out of the hurry and stress of everyday life by reconnecting to the wonderful world we actually live in. Wandering through the woods, listening to the sounds of nature and taking deep breaths helps me to recharge and to bethink myself of what is really important. I especially feel attached to water. Nothing feels as great as a day at the seaside. No matter what the weatherman says. A rough sea with thunder and rain feels just purely. A passion that caught me even before I could walk.
